Shabnam did her undergraduate medical degree and completed her basic surgical training in India. Following her move to the UK, she completed her FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. She went on to work as a senior SHO in Urology at Whipps Cross University Hospital. Hoping to pursue a career in Paediatric Urology she worked as an SHO in paediatric surgery and paediatric urology at the Royal Bristol Hospital for Children. Shabnam completed three years in full time research and is currently in the final stages of writing up her PhD thesis. The thesis work focuses on team performance in the operating theatre. She is also actively involved in teaching and training courses in the Department of Bio-Surgery and Surgical Technology. Shabnam has now returned to full time clinical work as a Urology Trainee and continues her participation in research and education within the Unit.
